Michael A. Bollenbacher, O.D.
Dr. Bollenbacher received his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry.
He is the former clinical director of two former LASIK centers and he has extensive experience in refractive surgery, currently working as the lead refractive surgery consultant at Insight Lasik in Boulder, CO . Since 1996, he has provided surgical comanagement for patients requiring cataract, glaucoma, and retinal surgeries. He is the Team Optometrist for the University of Colorado Athletic Department. His other areas of professional interest include dry eye treatment, sports vision, and advanced contact lens fitting.
He is an Adjunct Clinical Professor for the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Optometry. Has has also been an Adjunct Clinical Professor for the University of Houston College of Optometry. He is an active member of the Colorado Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and is Board Certified by the American Board of Optometry.
Outside of the office, Dr. Bollenbacher averages nearly 50 hours per year continuing medical education each year to stay current in his profession. He lives in Superior, CO and enjoys spending time with his two school-aged sons, skiing, snowboarding, hiking the backcountry, and playing tennis.
Ashley Swalla, O.D.
Dr. Swalla received her Doctorate of Optometry, Magna Cum Laude, from the Southern California College of Optometry. She completed a residency in Ocular Disease at the VA Hospital of Southern Nevada. After her residency, she worked in a private practice Fort Collins, Colorado for nearly 4 years. She spent the next few years helping patients in a large group practice covering Thornton, Broomfield, and Louisville, Colorado. She is an Adjunct Clinical Professor for the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Optometry.
Dr. Swalla sees patients of all ages for routine and eye and vision care. Plus, she has extensive experience in diagnosing and managing ocular diseases such as corneal infections and dystrophies, inflammatory eye disorders, dry eyes, glaucoma, diabetic retinal disease, and macular degeneration. She is highly skilled in fitting all types of contact lenses, from simple to complex fits, including keratoconus and post-surgical contact lens fits.
During her free time, Dr. Swalla can be found exploring the mountains of Colorado with her energetic Goldendoodle!
Travis is a Colorado native and is currently working on his pre-optometry prerequisites as an undergraduate student at the University of Colorado. He is responsible for front desk duties including scheduling, pre-testing, intake/checkout, contact lens ordering and dispensing, and answering general questions about common visual and ocular problems. He is also trained in performing several specialty ophthalmic tests including OCT and visual field testing. Travis enjoys tutoring other students and performing scientific research. When he is not working or studying, he volunteers his time helping others during the day and swing dancing at night.
